If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would! Exceptional food, the staff are just wonderful and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and the atmosphere is really lovely. I can't wait to visit again soon. Congratulations on all the awards, you can see why they won!

Really impressed with 1953 in Galashiels. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel right at home—super friendly and just the right amount of attentive. The food was absolutely spot on. You can tell it’s made fresh, and every dish had that “wow, this is good” moment. It’s not often you get great food and great service in the same place, but they’ve nailed it here. Left feeling full, happy, and already talking about when we’ll come back.
First time here and safe to say that I will be back. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff were attentive, and very friendly. They even went that extra mile, playing 'happy birthday' for my mum and producing a wee dessert. Highly recommend

I was treated to a night at 1953 last night for my 35th birthday and what a night it was, incredible food and service was top notch. Even though we were a group of 7 and there were a few other larger tables in to we could not fault it from the minute we walked in until we were ready to leave, my family (hellers) brought me a cake and the 2 gentleman working and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday to me as they brought my cake (I so wanted to slide under the table ) but it just lovely all round. The food is top tier absolutely delicious and we can't wait to return, the 2 lads serving us and all involved with the rest thank you so much for a great night
